CONVERSION OF LICENSE
DGCA
(Director General of Civil Aviation, Govt. of India ) is in the process
of modifying its aviation related programs making it compatible to JAR
(Joint Aviation Requirement ), the European specification, inorder to
make the traning and licenses internationally acceptable as per ICAO
norms for job for pilots and engineers anywhere in the globe.It will
also be at par with FAA license.
The following JARs are of importance.
JAR 147=CAR 147 - applicable for Training Schools
JAR 66=CAR 66 - applicable for Licensing
JAR OPS - applicable for Flying Operation
JAR 21 - applicable for manufcturing
activities.
JAR 145 - applicable for maintenance work.
These modifications which are under process will be implemented shortly
by DGCA for all aviation related activities.
A large number of candidates from India prefer to earn their Commercial
Pilot's License from developped countries such as USA,UK And Australia
etc. because of the lack of proper infrastructure in India. After receiving
the foreign license they need to apply to DGCA for conversion of their
foreign CPL to Indian CPL The procedure is simple and given below.You
are advised to view the website of DGCA "www.dgca.nic.in"
for Important Rules and Regulations as regard to Licensing and Conversion
of Licenses.
Following
documents are to be issued by the Flying School on their letter head
signed and stamped by the Authority:These documents are to be scrutinised
by DGCA for conversion of license.
1.Verification of 200 hours of flight time within a period of 5 years.
2.Verification of 100 hours of Pilot in Command time out of which 15
hours completed within a period of six months
3.Verification of 20 hours of Cross Country time as PIC out of which
1 Cross country of 300 Nautical Miles and more with landings at 2 different
aerodromes.
4.Verification of 10 hours
of Instrument time out of which less than 5 hours can be on an approved
simulator
5.Verification of 5 hours of Night time as PIC with 10 Take offs and
10 Landings within a period of six months
6.Verification of 100 hours of Pilot in Command time with more than
50 hours of Cross Country Flight time
7.Verification of 40 hours of Instrument time out of which 20 hours
shall be instrument ground time and more than 5 hours completed within
a period of six months.
8.Verification of completion of Flight training in accordance with the
syllabus prescribed by the DGCA.
Certification of accident / accident free record during entire flight
training with details.
Process to be followed for conversion of license :
1. Candidate shall posses a Computer Number. The application form for
Allotment of Computer Number can be downloaded from the website of DGCA
" www.dgca.nic.in "
2. Pass written examinations in:

a. Air Regulations
b. Composite (Navigation & Meteorology) Application form for Pilots
Written Examination
can be down loaded from the site of DGCA

3. Candidate shall obtain COP RTR(A)/RTR(P)
& based on that a FRTOL from the DGCA
4. Pass Signals (Practical) examination for interpretation of signals
5. Candidate shall posses DGCA Class 1 Medical Assessment CAR Section
7 Series C Part I issue I
6. Candidate is required to prove his flight skill in the following:

b. Flight Test by Night
c. Flight Test on Day Cross Country
d. Flight Test on Night Cross Country
e. Flight Test on Instrument Flight .

7. Eligibility
Criteria:
You should be a 10+2 graduate with Physics and Maths (as per DGCA requirement).
You should be at least 17 years of age.
You should be medically fit
(DGCA Class 1 Medical).
You should be able to read, write and speak English.
8. Candidate is required to
submit the required documents, certificates and other information with
the application for the issue of DGCA CPL.
